In response to the resounding success of the first national symposium on the professional integration of beginning teachers, held in Laval in May 2004, the partners wanted to pursue this mission on a more permanent basis and thus respond to the invitation to “take action.” Real needs on the part of the school community to address entry into the profession and propose support and accompaniment measures were identified. To respond to these concerns, the National Carrefour for Professional Integration in Teaching (CNIPE) offers its services, disseminates relevant information, and supports professional integration efforts thanks to the tangible support of the Quebec Ministry of Education (QME) and the logistical support of the Laval School Services Centre. In 2009, a second symposium brought together more than 500 participants interested in pursuing their reflections and sharing their successes in “giving new impetus to the teaching profession.” A few seminars and symposiums were proposed in subsequent years, bringing together people in similar roles who sought to further the development of schemes in their milieu, according to their sphere of action, and influence, each in their own way, the culture of professional integration in their working environment.

As its name indicates, the CNIPE’s main goal is to provide a place of convergence and coordination accessible to all stakeholders in the field of professional integration in Quebec. Collaboration is favoured in order to make the support provided to beginning teachers more effective. Through the www.cnipe.ca website and its social networks, relevant information is disseminated to support those involved in school or university settings.

The CNIPE’s goals are realized through the creation of partnerships between those involved in professional integration so that a multiplier effect can be achieved. These collaborations also aim to make integration programs as efficient and relevant as possible.

The CNIPE team invites you to join us at the teacher integration table, where everyone is welcome to come share with one another and recharge their batteries.

Professional integration is a transitional, dynamic, and non-linear process of integration into the profession; it is considered a crucial and sometimes critical phase in a teacher’s professional development. Its duration varies, with research generally indicating a time frame of five to seven school years, depending on individual characteristics and the integration context.

The Quebec Ministry of Education has entrusted the National Carrefour for Professional Integration in Teaching (CNIPE) with the mission of fostering the successful integration of teachers at the beginning of their careers and contributing to the development of their professional identity.

Through the Directorate of Training and Tenure of School Personnel, the Quebec Ministry of Education provides financial assistance to enable it to carry out its mission.

With the participation of the Director of Training and Tenure of School Personnel and the individual in charge of teacher integration on the CNIPE Steering Committee, the Ministry ensures that the Action Plan implemented by CNIPE is in line with its orientations and priorities.
